KazNU takes 150th place among the 800 best universities in the world in the international ranking of universities QS World University Rankings, the first of the country's universities in 2018 was awarded the international mark of excellence - QS STARS - 4 STARS in terms of the provision of educational services, scientific and innovative activities and academic reputation.

KazNU Al-Farabi is the only university in Kazakhstan that is accepted into the United Nations Academic Impact program and is the Central Asian hub of this program.

By order of the rector of KazNU. Al-Farabi dated July 5, 2018 (order No. 368), the Higher School of Medicine (GSOM) of the Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare was established to implement educational programs in the field of healthcare.

In 2018-2019, the first enrollment of students under the educational program "General Medicine" was accepted in the amount of 52 students, among whom were domestic and foreign students. From the 2019-2020 academic year, recruitment was carried out for other educational programs. Currently, about 5,000 students are studying, including undergraduate, internship, master's and PhD doctoral studies, as domestic and foreign students from 30 countries, such as India, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq, the Syrian Arab Republic, South Africa, Yemen, China, Kenya, Palestine, USA, Russia, Uzbekistan, Somalia, Sudan, Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Ireland, Italy, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania and others. Training is conducted in three languages: English, Russian and Kazakh.
